I short-cut the process by just gripping the string as I would grip it normally and pull it 2-3" and let it go. Based on the sound I adjust the tiller until I get that clear "strum" and minimize the vibration time in the riser. Anybody else is doing this way? I know it is very personal and a lot of this is coming from experience with the bow itself, but I am just wondering if there are others using non-conventional methods.
PS This is first thing I do when I mount new limbs on a riser I know what I want in terms of BH and nock point. Once the tiller is set using this method I am doing micro-tuning for the BH and nocking point - I know what sound and amount of vibration I want in the end.

A friend of mine used to set his initial brace height setting that way. It worked for him.
