With our bow season opener coming OCT 2nd, it's time for me to get things ready for it. My stands, etc have been in place for months. Unfortunately I haven't shot my bow in months. The last time I shot it was when I changed the limbs on it, and only shot a few arrows to begin the tuning process. I'll be finishing that process this afternoon when it cools down some. I'll be ready.

I guess my preliminary tuning was better than I thought it to be. Didn't have to change a thing. This was my second group after a 5 target arrow warm up. First group was a little bigger, but not much 20 yards: 2 - Broad Heads 2 - Bare Shafts 1 - Target Point Naturally, the stripped fletching had to be one of the broadheads. No biggie. I'm good to go.

Had acouple physical mishaps (back surgery and ruptured quadriceps tendon) and missed deer season last year. Doctors released me to start shooting and walking without a brace at the end of July. My knee still isn't working quite right but I'm working hard to get out and hunt this year. The rut gets seriously rolling here in Indiana a couple weeks before gun season. I have a weeklong hunt scheduled 11/6-12. Hopefully all goes well and I can get out there! Good luck to all this season!

I've got to go check out my main spot tomorrow. It's a pretty good hike to it. Not real far (3/4 mile), but lots of brush, and tangle, and I have to cross the creek. Just want to make sure the one trail I have getting in there is passable. It will be before I leave. I waited until now to clear the trail, because if I had done it earlier it would all be grown back over by now, and I'd have to do it again anyway. The animals will have a week to forget I was there.

I went over today, and got me a good access trail cut from the river up to my stand & feeder. Animals must be hitting the feeder pretty hard. There wasn't a kernel of feed on the ground anywhere. Made me think the feeder wasn't working but it was. It feeds for 15 seconds twice a day, and they are cleaning it up. Come on Saturday morning !!!!!!!!!!!

I made it across the creek, but it was almost over the top of my boots, and swift. Slipped on the slick mud on the steep side, and fell. Almost slid head first all the way back down to the water.
Saw 5 doe, and seven fawn. No bucks. Those deer were close enough, that I could have stabbed them with my pocket knife. 😃
Didn't see any pigs. Didn't even hear any, but I know they are around. Tracks everywhere.
This afternoon/evening starts a new game.

Left should/bow arm is sore as hell from the fall. I can barely lift my bow. Headed back out there shortly, and I'll make it work even if I have to prop it up with a stick. 😃 Porcupines are so cool. This guy visited me twice this morning.

Didn't see as many deer this evening as this morning, but I could have spit in this ones eye. The one back behind her is at 22 yards.
